Fake MAC time

Hi girls,

I'm getting so many emails and messages again asking me to check if products they are buying off people on Facebook are real or not.

100% of the time this stuff is crap and dangerous. The products or brush bristles are full of dye and god only knows what else. I have a client who was left with a scar on her eye after using a fake MAC eyeshadow. It burnt her eye so bad, it scarred and she was on medication for weeks. Please please only buy from Brown Thomas in Ireland. There is no where else that it's genuine. Here's a few pics of some of the crap that's being sold. This picture below is the same set I bought years ago when I first started makeup and the black dye of the brushes stained my face for days. Please stay away from these especially at Christmas markets and events.

Face mask time

I braved the snail mask..this mask is snail extract!! You apply the serum over your face and then lay the hydrating mask over for 20 mins. My skin felt brilliant after it..not gonna lie I was feeling a bit pukey half way through knowing I had snail arse juice on my face..lol
I got it from Cassidy's pharmacy from the lovely Stephanie..it's only €1.99..I dare you try it

Poundshop Purchases

Wait until you here of my hero purchases of the week....And the best thing about them is that they cost only €1.50 each.

Aragan Oil is everywhere at the minute and the Euro Giant shop has a large range of their products from haircare to skincare. I picked up their Hair Treatment Mask and their Night Repair Serum.

I'm just in love with both of them. The mask is your straight forward nourishing treatment that leaves your hair so soft and shiny. A must for this time of the year to help the frizzy bits.

Next up is the amazing serum, which looks like a complete copy of the Estee Lauder Repair Night Cream.
This serum I am practically bathing in. Normally with serums, I would use them sparingly as they are usually so expensive. One of my brides to be (thanks Ciara), gave me my first bottle of this to try and 2 months later I'm now on my third. I am smathering this on my face and neck morning and night and I am really starting to see a difference in how my makeup is sitting.

Time to get the coppers out girls and hit the pound shops..xx

NYX - My Top 5 Products

I wanted to do a post about the newest drugstore makeup brand to have landed in Ireland, called NYX. Like all brands there are some standout products and some products that are a complete waste of money.
I've gone a bit crazy in the past few weeks and I've collected a good few of their products. Hopefully this will help anyone that's not too sure where to start when they start seeing these stands in chemists. For anyone living in Clare, the chemist back in Kilkee stock it and I've heard the chemist in the grove is getting it but I still haven't seen it in there.

Here is a Long list of some of my favourite products.

NO. 1 - Lip Products
I am so impressed with all things lips with this brand. I could list so many but I'll stick to just 3 favourite lip glosses and lipsticks. My 3 favourite lipsticks are from the Matte collection. The first is the red below which is called Indie Flick, which is a great bright orange red. This is considered a dupe for MAC Lady Danger. The middle is my favourite called Euro Trash is a brown/pink shade. A dark natural colour. It reminds of the 'Kylie Jenner' shade everyone is lusting after. The last shade is called Tea Rose which is a dark mauve colour with a hint of pink. It gives a pop of colour without being too over the top. All three would be perfect shades for this time of the year.

My 3 favourite butter glosses are Maple Blondie, Vanilla Cream Pie and Strawberry Parfait. I just love the texture of these, lovely and pigmented and not at all sticky. They are also so hydrating.
I'll eventually end up buying them all for my kit.

NO 2.

Next up on the list is the HD concealers €6.99each. These beauty's are so brightening for the oulde eye bags and are brilliant for covering spots or other imperfections. I love the yellow shade and 06 - Glow. They are very high coverage so they can be a bit drying if you suffer with fine lines. I always make sure I've applied eye cream before these and stops it looking dry. There are 8 different shades and 3 different correctors. I will also more than likely collect all of them for my kit they are so yummy..xxx

NO. 3

Blushers.
These babies are just the best value. They are only €7:49 and they are so buttery and soft and pigmented. My fave out of these is Peach,Angel and Taupe. The Peach blush is actually not a peach shade. It gives a pinky flush to the cheeks and has no orange or coral tone to it. Angel is just the perfect soft shade if you want an everyday blush, great for any look or for someone who is afraid of blusher or is very pale. I particularly like this if I'm going for a smokey eye or red lip and not too sure which blush to go with.
And then lastly is their most talked about shade, Taupe. This is an all round shade. It can be used as blush, as a contour powder and also as an eyeshadow. It is such a wearable shade and the kind of contour shade that's not too obvious. If you have olive or very tanned skin I would stay away from this as it will look too ashy.

NO. 4

Next up is their Jumbo Eye Pencils

I've 3 of these, Milk, black bean and dark brown..I love these as eyeshadow bases. I  smudge them all over my lid and they act as a base or primer for eye shadows or pigments and make eyeshadow colours much more vibrant. I wouldn't recommend these for the waterline as I find they smudge very easily under the eye and you'll look like a raccoon after a few hours.

NO 5.

NYX Matte setting spray

This is a great lightweight spray which I find really does help keep shine at bay. I apply this before and after my makeup. It also comes in a dewy finish for anyone that likes that finish. This is brilliant to keep your makeup in place and keeps you skin feeling fresh and hydrated.

I hope this helps, talk soon girlies..xxx

Beauty Bargains of the week

Here we go again with some must have beauty bargains...x
After another trip to Boots I did a little happy dance when I spotted that Seventeen had released a new cream bronzer, called Seventeen Instant Glow Cream Bronzer.
This has such a lovely light formula guaranteeing you don't end up looking like a shiny orange extra from Geordie Shore. It's really buildable and does exactly as the name says, it gives you a glow.
This isn't one bit muddy looking and blends like a dream. I use it as a bronzer across my nose, forehead and collar bones. I also use it to contour the sides of my nose, in the hollows of my cheeks and it's brilliant to enhance my non existing cleavage.
This is defo a must have!!!

The second winner this week is a Essence Eye Pencil in Teddy. This to me is a complete dupe for MAC pencil in the colour Teddy also, which I absolutely adore. This is a deep brown shade with a copper shimmer through it which will flatter all eye colours. It is so creamy and slides on effortlessly and it lasts on my eyes. I've used the colour both on my lids as a base and in my waterline and it didn't irritate my eyes.
I have a few if these thrown in different bags and at only €1.49 each you can't go wrong.

Happy shopping...xxxx

Zoeva Brush Haul

Hey everyone,
Sorry for the lack of posts lately. I've neglected my little blog as its wedding season.

Mr. Postman was here again..this time delivering more amazing brushes from Zoeva and I just thought I'd share with you these beauties.
Zoeva is a German based makeup company that creates the softest brushes that are of very high quality at such a good price. I have bought different brush sets from different companies over the years and have never been fully happy with all of the brushes, there is always one or two duds in them. I have had my eye on their Rose Golden Set for months and it finally is mine..ALL MINE.
It consists of 8 gorgeous brushes, all wrapped in a rose gold finish which is perfect for moi as I love anything shiny.
How Zoeva describe it:

Inspired by the dazzling explosion of pink and gold, our ROSE GOLDEN Luxury Set is downright divine. Stored in a sleek, classy clutch, the luxurious brush collection comes with eight essential handcrafted brushes for your everyday makeup routine or looks with extravagance. The kit comes with both, high quality natural hair and synthetic taklon bristles, so it can be used with cream and powder based products.

It has the following brushes:
Face Brush 106
Powder Brush 102
Face Shape 102
Lux Sheer Cheek 127
Concealer Buffer Eyes 142
Soft Definer 227
Petite Crease 231
Wing Liner 317

You also get a leather pouch to hold these in.
This is such good value for a fantastic elegant set which looks and feels so luxurious. It cost €58.00 plus postage and would be an amazing gift for any girl or woman, for birthdays or Christmas etc. or even just to buy for yourself as a treat. Even better, hint big time to hubby or the boyfriend to get their credit cards out.

You can buy them on https://www.zoeva-shop.de/en/rose-golden-luxury-set/a-8000382/

I also bought two single eye brushes, the 322 Brow line brush and the 312 Detail liner. These are just brill for creating the perfect brow shape and are a must have for a makeup artist.

The postage with Zoeva is €6.30..xxx

Review - Bronze Leaf Spray Tan

Hey girls,
I just wanted to share a new tan I tried at the weekend, at The Beautique Ennis. For the last two years I have always gotten the Rock Tan Spray Tan here and loved it,  but unfortunately it would be a right messy b**ch to get off. Id look fab for two days and then a scummy mess for a week until I finally scrubbed it off.
This tan, Bronze Leaf has the same golden finish but is lasting brilliantly. It is exactly 7 days after my spray tan and people are still asking me what tan I'm wearing. I have exfoliated lightly and moisturised all week and is fading brilliantly. It dries straight away and it was flawless. I had no white patches or messy bits. Alot of this is down to the high quality of the tan but also Emer who applied it. She is a perfectionist and just brilliant at applying tan. This tan would be fantastic to get before a sun holiday.
The great thing about this tan is that they have three different levels to choose from. They have a light, medium and dark.
The light is for those with fair skin who are just looking for a glow. The medium is the most popular shade as it is a safe golden shade, not too dark or light. And then finally the dark shade, this is best suited to anyone with a darker skin tone or someone looking a darker richer colour. This shade will last the longest.
I of course went for the dark shade, nothing like a bit of brown to make the lumps look better. This was really dark but not orange, more of a deeper golden shade. Normal girls will love the medium shade but the darker the better for me..lol.
Also the lightest shade is marketed to suit brides and is perfect just to give a light wash of colour which will be perfect for brides nervous of  having marks or looking obviously tanned.

The tan itself is organic and contains exotic botanical extracts. Aloe Vera has anti-ageing properties which help tone and firm the skin. Lemon peel extract is a natural astringent and Macadamia oil has long been valued for its ability to protect , soothe and condition the skin. Whats more all their products are paraben and alcohol free and is widely popular for sufferers of eczema and rocacea as it doesn't cause flares ups.
This is defo one to try girls..Happy tanning....xx

Some blahhh products

Hey girls,
I just wanted to share with you a few bits that I've been trying out and have found them to be just crap and so not worth buying.

The first one is Maybelline Rocket Mascara
This does give you big black lashes but it flakes and makes your lashes so hard. I found I lost so many lashes the few weeks I was trying it out.  I think I paid around €12 each for them. I bought the regular and the waterproof mascara and both gave the same problems. They both went to the bin.

Maybelline Fit Me concealer
Now this product was just no good for me personally -as I'm an old hag with big bags that you could sleep in. This is a lovely light brightening concealer but no good whatsoever for covering bags or spots.
This would be good for young girls that just what to brighten up their undereye area. I'm using it at the moment as a highlight over my normal concealer just to  use it up, but will never repurchase.

And finally Rimmel Scandaleyes Precision Eyeliner...
This was by far the biggest let down . I love Rimmel but this was just useless. I've used it for 2 weeks and it's already drying up. The pen itself is almost like an ink pen, hard to hold and not very easy to get a definite line. I find it is way too small and the quality of the product itself is very poor. You have to keep going over to get a really black line and after a few hours it fades to almost nothing, especially if you have a flick. Save the bucks for something else girls..this is a major fail.
Hope this helps..xx

Nudey Nails Time

Hey girls,
I just wanted to show you a nail varnish I just picked up. It's from Rimmel, from their Kate range. It's in the shade New Romantic and is a soft Matt pink shade. Pale nude pink and beige tones are so big right now. I picked it up in Cassidy's pharmacy and it cost €6:49. Check out the pics below, it's such a wearable colour that's fab for this time of the year.

Makeup Masterclass with Joanne Larby - The Makeup Fairy

Hi girls,
Following on from my Bridal course with Inglot, I also had the pleasure of attending a masterclass with the very inspirational Joanne Larby - aka The Makeup Fairy. This evening class was a 3 hour class covering 2 different looks. I 've listed the products below with pictures.
I have to say this course was just brilliant. Joanne herself I have followed from the very beginning. I would scour the internet when I first started doing makeup and just loved her reviews and step by step tutorials. I hesitantly started blogging after falling in love with her blog. She has made a career out of her talent and she constantly amazes me how far she has gone. She is also just such a lovely approachable friendly girl. If Joanne does come back to Inglot girls I would highly recommend going to her class. For €20.00 you are getting a 3 hour masterclass with a very talented makeup artist.

Inglot Bridal Course Review

Hey girls,
I just said I'd give ye a quick overview on the Inglot Bridal course I have just finished. I just love doing masterclasses and watching how other makeup artists work. It helps you try new techniques and also pushes you as an artist to keep learning. When you specialise in Bridal it's so easy to fall into  a rut of using the same brands and colours. Doing these master classes you get to see the best of products that are specifically for bridal.
The course itself is a 3 night course which I think would be brilliant for beauticians trying to improve their makeup skills or for any makeup student just finished their diploma looking to specialise in Bridal. I think if you have worked as a Bridal makeup artist you will already have covered most things in this course. What it entails is a different look each night, covering the Classic Bride, the Vintage Bride and finally the Bohemian bride. The girls would demonstrate a different look each night and then you would try the look on your self with the help of the girls. Each night would run from 6pm to 8pm and the course itself costs €199.00.
I personally really enjoyed the course as I'm such a product whore. I loved getting so much product knowledge first hand and really getting to try all their best products. In my job its so important to be able to recommend products to clients.
The very best part of this course is Lisa and Lizan the 2 trainers. They have such a relaxed way of training. You laugh so much and learn with these two. They bounce so well off each other and go through everything and are so willing to help. My bank balance didn't like it as you end up wanting everything!!. I will do an updated Inglot haul next week featuring all these goodies and list my favourite new products.

Competition and Naked Palette Dupe Alert

Hey girls,
It's competition time again!!. I picked up this fab palette in Cara Pharmacy in Galway, and loved it so much I bought two, one for me and one for ye.
It is called the W7 In the Buff Palette. It looks and feels so like the Naked 2 Palette and only cost me €5.00. I NEVER buy those cheapy eyeshadow sets and normally stay away from the big 88 palettes as I find the quality so hit and miss and hate all the fall down, but the texture of these is so soft and surprisingly very good. It comes with 12 neutral shades, a mix of mattes and soft shimmers and also a handed double ended brush. It is such a wearable palette and is packaged in a sturdy tin case just like the Naked 2 Palette which is so handy for travelling or throwing in your bag. The majority of the colours are dupes for some of the Naked shades. I never bought the Naked 2 and will defo not be paying 45.00 bucks for it now that I have this. I think I actually prefer this to the original Naked Palette
To enter the competition all you have to do is copy and paste the facebook link and then write my blog name - fairydustmakeup.blogspot.ie -into the facebook comment.
Winner will be picked this Sunday and I will post it straight out to the lucky winner. Anyone can apply.....

Best of luck and Happy St. Patrick's Day...

Makeup Masterclass with Buff Makeup

Hi Girls,
I'm just back from a makeup masterclass with the amazing celebrity makeup artist Tara O'Farrell and Buff Makeup in the gorgeous G Hotel. There is so much hype and talk about the Buff products lately, so I jumped at the chance to see them being used. I hate ordering something without testing it out especially when they are so expensive. The products themselves are pricey enough but after seeing the finished results I wanted it all.
The stand out products for me was the famous HD foundation, the movie star cream and the eye shadows. Tara is a working model and makeup artist and shared all her tips and tricks. I love seeing other makeup artists at work and love seeing all the different techniques. She covered everything from contouring to eyeliner and took the look from a natural look right up to a glamorous evening look and really explained how to use each product. She is just so lovely and friendly and the class just flows. She couldn't have been more helpful and would highly recommend anyone from a beginner to a makeup artist to go to one of her classes. I also wont be digging into any biscuits or junk after standing beside her..she is just stunning...here's a few pics from today...xx

You can buy the Buff products at www.buffmakeup.com. Also check out Tara's facebook page for tutorials and fantastic tips and tricks https://www.facebook.com/Tara.Makeup

Beauty Bargain of the Week

Hey girls,
I just want to share these little beauties that can make such a difference to keeping your makeup last throughout the day, and the best thing is they only cost €3.49.
They are Catrice Blotting papers. They are small little oil control papers that soak up the oils on your face without affecting your makeup. By removing the excess oil it means your makeup lasts longer throughout the day.

If you suffer with an oily t -zone these bad boys will become your best friend. There is nothing worse than looking on Facebook on a Sunday morning and having a big shiny forehead or chin in every photo. A shiny t-zone will be highlighted with the flash in a camera. This little compact is so handy to throw in your jacket pocket or even clutch bag.
These are an absolute must for brides and bridesmaids.
Happy shopping..x

My 3 Favourite Eyeliners

Hey girls, I am always being asked to recommend my favourite products. I will go through them all eventually but to start here is a list of my favourite 3 eyeliners: pencil, liquid and gel.

Pencil:

Starting with pencil my favourite of all time is MAC's Eye Kohl in Smoulder. I love it because its really soft, it has great power and a really strong black colour. It's a bit on the pricey side at just under €20 but lasts forever. It also acts great as an eye base under pigments or glitter. I just draw it all over the lid then smudge it out and then press the glitter or pigment onto it. - Nice quick and easy party look.
This also is a great eye pencil for contact lens wearers.
P.S If you are one of those people whose under eye make or eyeliner tends to always smudge bad under your eyes I would advise to stay away from this...xx

Liquid:

- Catrice Liquid liner
What I love about this is that it has a felt tip brush which allows you to get a precise line. You can really control the nib. I hate those really thin brushes that normally come with some liquid liners.
Also the product itself doesn't dry too fast, so gives you just enough time to perfect that flick. It gives a dark black line that doesn't fade. I have this one the regular one and also in the waterproof version. The regular one would run in rain or if you were sweating and the waterproof one is budge proof for anyone with sweaty Betty eyelids. This is a great starting product if your starting out using liquid liner. I would say if you have sensitive eyes this might irritate. I find at night if I've been wearing it all day my eyes feel sore- yet I still wear it!!

Gel:

Last but not least - Inglot Cream Liner.

This beauty makes my job as a makeup artist easier. I have tried them all and this one wins hands down. It is such a smooth, brilliant product. It lets you create a beautiful black line. It doesn't feel dry or cakey on your lid. I use this blended out on the lid under glitter and pigments. It drys quiet fast though so I wouldn't hang around if fixing mistakes. You can also use this on for tight lining and in the waterline. I can get away with this wearing contacts as long as I let it dry. This has made my bridal kit and one for my own makeup kit. I have this in a few colours. The brown is fab to use in the brows.

Beauty Bargains of the Week...x

Hey girls,
I've been buying alot of makeup lately and am busy out trying them out properly before I review them.
Here's a quick post on 2 of these goodies that were absolute bargains and stand out products.
Catrice  - Pure Shine Colour Lip Balm and No. 7 Honey Blush.
I paid €4.89 for the Catrice Balm. With this  I love to colour in my lip with a neutral lip pencil and then apply this over it. The shade i got is 040 My Cherry Berry and its a handy go too product that you can apply without worrying you end up with lipstick all over your face. Its like a mix of lip gloss and lip balm. Also this didn't dry out my lips, its really moisturising. To me this is a dupe for the Clinique Chubby sticks but a quarter of the price. I haven't seen Catrice in Ennis but as soon as I get to Limerick I will be buying a couple more of these. Lovvvvveeeeee

            *********************************
Next up is the No.7 blush. This was €11.00 but I used a €6.50 off voucher from boots so it only cost me €4.50.
This is just the perfect daytime blush. Its is a warm brown/peachy colour that has a silky smooth finish and leaves a healthy glow to the skin. Perfect for all those Irish pale chicks out. Will suit anyone up to NC37 in MAC. Would probably be too light for anyone with a darker skin tone. I think this would be brilliant for someone starting out using blusher. You can't go wrong with it. It is also very buildable for all ye blush whores like myself..lol
Talk soon..xxx
